Accessibility statement
This English version is provided for information. The German version is legally binding.
Franz Ziener GmbH & Co. KG wants everyone to be able to use our online shop at ziener.com without barriers. In this statement we describe our online shop, how it works, how we meet the accessibility requirements and where limitations remain. It contains the information required by § 14 in conjunction with Annex 3 of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG).
Our online shop
In our online shop we sell gloves, clothing and equipment for winter sports, cycling and outdoor activities, as well as digital gift cards. The online shop is aimed at consumers and businesses with a delivery address in Germany or Austria. It is available in German and English.
How the online shop works
- Finding products: Using the main menu, the search or the filters on the category pages.
- Choosing a product: On the product page you will find images, a description, the price, colours and sizes. Click “Add to cart” to add the product to your cart.
- Ordering: In the cart you review your selection and go to checkout. You order as a guest or with a customer account, enter your address, choose a payment method and complete the order with “Order with obligation to pay”. The checkout is provided by our shop system Shopify.
- After your order: You receive an order confirmation and a shipping confirmation by email.
- Returns and withdrawal: Using the links “Register a return” and “Withdraw from contract” in the footer of every page.
- Help: Our customer service can be reached by email, phone, contact form and chat.
How we meet the requirements
Our basis is the harmonised standard EN 301 549, which for websites refers to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at conformance level AA. Among other things, we have implemented the following:
- The language of each page is set technically, so that screen readers read German and English correctly.
- A “Skip to content” link lets you skip the navigation.
- The menu, links, colour and size selection, cart and forms can be operated with a keyboard. The selected element is clearly highlighted.
- Each page has one clear main heading and a logical heading structure.
- Images have alternative texts; purely decorative images are skipped by screen readers.
- Form fields, for example in the contact form and the newsletter sign-up, are labelled.
- The layout adapts to different screen sizes and can be enlarged with the browser's zoom function.
- Our legal texts are available as text on the website and not only as PDF files.
- You can reach us in several ways: in writing by email, contact form and chat, and by phone.
Compliance status
Our online shop is partially compliant with the requirements. The following content is not yet fully accessible:
- Navigation: Part of the navigation in the header is not technically marked up as a list correctly.
- Product images: The alternative texts of some product images only name the colour and not the product.
- Third-party content: The cookie banner (CookieYes), the customer service chat (Gorgias), the reviews (Judge.me and Trusted Shops), the returns and withdrawal portal (8returns) and the checkout (Shopify) are provided by third parties. We have only limited influence on their accessibility. We take accessibility into account when choosing providers and report known issues to them.
We are working to remove these limitations and will update this statement as soon as anything changes. If one of these limitations prevents you from ordering, we will gladly help you place your order by email or phone.
Preparation of this statement
This statement is based on a self-assessment carried out in October 2026. We tested the home page, a category page, a product page, the cart, the contact form and the legal texts, both automatically with the axe testing tool and manually, including with a keyboard. We review this statement regularly and whenever we make significant changes to the online shop.
