Go Felix
Already at the alpine World Championships 2011 Felix Neureuther wears his individual pair of Ziener gloves (style "Giga") which offers a wide range of optical and functional innovations. According to Felix's advice, this style was developed to combine palm-protector and glove to one functional unit. Due to a new cuff construction, the protector fits perfectly into the glove and can be fixed with an all around velcro fastener. A new plastic-padding on the upper cuff provides additional shock-absorbing. The Grip zone in the stock area of the palm ensures a non-slip grip. More special paddings and protectors at the fingers, back of hand and rib, provide perfect protection against injuries. The special racing-style cut with extreme curvature and thin palm padding gives maximum feel for ski sticks. Both pro glove styles of the ski stars Victoria and Felix will be on retail sale as replica models by next winter. Next to the styles "Giga" and "Laxo", which are identical to the pro models, there will be three more kids styles influenced by these two athletes, which are also carrying their authentic signatures.
Interview with Felix Neureuther

Question: How was your season preparation, how was your summer time? Felix Neureuther: Unfortunately I was injured at the end of the winter and needed to be operated in April. The rehab went quite well and I got back into training mid of July. Q: Your home World Championships in Garmisch didn't succeed - what was the reason, too much media hype? F.N.: Of course it's not easy to handle the pressure of a home championship. But apart from that it was just not my day and I wasn't able to tap my full potential. The following races went well again and I was back on track with lots of fun. Q: How important is the mental strenght in your sport, could you win a race by being mentally strong? F.N.: The mental state is quite important. Especially within the dicipline of slalom, the level of performance is very high, which means a lot is decided by mental strenght. Q:How do you get this mental strenght? F.N.: By practical experience and extended training sessions. You need to be self-confident and not easily distracted. Q: How often do you have "a perfect run"?? F.N.: This is hard to say. Most of the time the perfect run succeeds by "having the tunnel vision". During the run you should be just concentrated on the run like "being in the zone". If you are interrupted by a mistake or anything else you think "shit" and you leave the right track. If this happens it's hard to get rid of the distracting outside influences. Two years ago at my Kitzbühl victory I was in the zone, everything worked out all by itself. |
Q: And how often does this happen, that everything worked out all by itself? F.N.: Perfect runs are really seldom. Most of the times there are always things you could have made better. Q: A perfect run requires perfect material, how important are your new Ziener gloves to you? F.N.: A glove is really important: With the glove you carry your ski sticks and it gives you security by protecting against injuries and the cold. And it needs to have a cool look. I like my Ziener Pro model the best. Q: Of course - because you developed this glove! F.N.: Yes, I really like to be directly involved in product developement. I can incorporate my experiences and special needs and for that reason I bear a close relation to the gloves and can count on them for 100%. |
Q: Since your childhood - how do gloves have changed? F.N.: There has been a lot of change in the field of gloves. For example, you have high quality paddings and carbon protections, which have been unimaginable just a couple of years ago. Q: How relevant is the glove within your overall material range? F.N.: Of course you are not automatically faster by wearing another glove. But it warms and protects you and for that reason gloves are supporting your overall success and are essential for our sport. Q: Your team collegue Fritz Dopfer successfully completed last season, do you think this inner competion is good for the general team performance? F.N.: Beside Fritz we have a few more good athletes within the team. It's definitely more fun to be part of a strong team than being a lone fighter. Q: What are your goals for next season? F.N.: In slalom I want to be back on the podium. In giant slalom I feel more and more comfortable and want to keep on working hard for better results. |
